Privacy Policy

Riverstone Connect ("the app") is an independent community app for residents of the Riverstone community in Madera, California. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's handled. Short version: we collect only what the app needs to work, we never sell your data, and your community content stays inside your community.

Information we collect

Account information — your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash) when you create an account.
Residency verification — your Riverstone street address, and optionally a photo of a document (such as a utility bill) that you choose to submit as proof of residency. Verification documents are reviewed (in part by an automated AI check) and then deleted after a decision is made — we keep only the address and the outcome.
Content you create — posts, comments, polls, messages, event listings, marketplace listings, pet reports, and photos you attach to them.
Location you choose to share — the app never tracks your location in the background. If you tap "drop a pin" on a post or pet report, that single location is attached to that item. The parks map may use your device location (with your permission) to show where you are on the map.
Push notification token — a device identifier used solely to deliver notifications you've enabled.
Error reports — if the app encounters a technical error, a description of the error may be logged to help us fix it.

How we use it

To verify that members are Riverstone residents and keep the community private.
To operate the app's features: the feed, events, messaging, marketplace, pet reports, park map, and notifications.
To moderate content that is reported by neighbors and keep the community safe.
To fix bugs and improve the app.

What we don't do

We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
We do not show third-party ad networks or share your data with data brokers.
We do not track your location in the background.
We do not use your data for advertising profiles or cross-app tracking.

Who can see your content

Community content (posts, events, listings, pet reports, your profile) is visible only to verified Riverstone residents signed into the app. Direct messages are visible only to the people in the conversation. Community moderators can review content that has been reported, and can remove content that violates community guidelines.

Service providers

The app runs on trusted infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), OpenAI (automated review of verification documents and content safety screening), and Apple / Expo (push notification delivery). Each receives only the minimum data needed to perform its function.

Children

Riverstone Connect is intended for adults (18+). Children do not have accounts. Playdate features reference children's age ranges only, as entered by their parents — never names, photos, or schedules of children are required by the app.

Your choices & rights

You can edit or delete your own posts, comments, messages, listings, and reports at any time in the app.
You can disable push notifications in your device settings.
You can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing help@improveu.net — we'll complete it within 30 days.
California residents: you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know, delete, and non-discrimination. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Data retention & security

Data is stored on secured infrastructure with encryption in transit. Verification documents are deleted after review. Content you delete is removed from the app. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required for safety or legal reasons.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll post the update here and note it in the app.
